SBC Content Updates for Retail, Small and Mid-Market Groups (1-150)

As a result of the implementation of Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, the Nondiscrimination in Health Programs and Activities (Final Rule), certain addenda have recently been added to documents that are considered helpful in providing an informative member enrollment experience. These addenda include Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBC), Outlines of Coverage (OOC) and member booklets. This non-discrimination communication, which briefly outlines members’ rights and assistance, also includes a resource that members can use to ask questions about their benefits in their native language.

Please note that it is required for a state-specific non-discrimination communication document to be included with each SBC, OOC and member booklet prior to group distribution. In the event that any of these documents are provided to a client or group by a producer, a state-specific non-discrimination communication document must be included with the document.

Please reach out to your BCBSTX representative to assist with obtaining the correct state-specific non-discrimination communication.
