PT, OT and ST Benefits for All Ages Changed for Texas Medicaid September 1, 2017

Effective for dates of service on or after September 1, 2017, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT) and speech therapy (ST) benefits for all ages will change for Texas Medicaid. This notification describes changes to the PT, OT and ST Medicaid benefits, which may be different from the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), or school heath and related services (SHARS) Medicaid benefits. Watch for additional detailed information on ECI program changes.

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service), and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact their client's specific MCO for details.
