An Update Regarding Tenet Healthcare

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and Tenet Healthcare (Tenet) have been in active negotiations for the past 10 months. In October 2016, Tenet issued us a termination notice stating that it would no longer be a part of our Blue Choice PPO^SM, Blue Essentials^SM (formerly HMO Blue Texas^SM), Blue Advantage HMO^SM and Blue Cross Medicare Advantage^SM networks as of April 15, 2017.

It is our hope that Tenet will remain in our networks. Even if Tenet decides to leave our networks, members in Texas can still choose from more than 80,000 doctors and health care practitioners and 500 hospitals throughout the state.

We plan to send letters to members in late February to let them know the status of this contract negotiation.

Members can visit our online Provider Finder^® for up-to-date listings of in-network providers. Additionally, members can call the number on their ID card with any questions regarding in-network care.
