Action Required: 2017 Medicare Supplement ‘Clean Application’ Due Date

New Medicare Supplement applications must be submitted by Feb. 3, 2017, to secure 2016 rates for the first billing cycle.

Each year, there is a brief period during which new Medicare Supplement enrollees may secure the previous year’s rate through the first invoice. For 2017, new business applications that are considered “complete” will be given 2016 rates for their first billing cycle, as long as they are submitted no later than Feb. 3, 2017.

The new Medicare Supplement rates will be effective April, 1, 2017.

In order to ensure an application is complete, producers should make sure to include the following:

• Notice of Replacement (NOR)
• Policy Checklist
• The Outline of Coverage box must be checked
