Some Small Group (1-50) Metallic Plans and One 51-150 Plan Will Be Discontinued in 2016

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois will be sending discontinuation notices to small group administrators and employees who have one of the small group (1-50) metallic plans that are being discontinued. We are notifying all group administrators and employees this month about their 2016 plan discontinuances. The notices will be sent later this week to the group administrators, and next week to employees currently enrolled in one of the discontinued plans.

Off-exchange Plans
Small groups with off-exchange plans will receive a group administrator letter and an employee letter. They will receive new plan options in their 2016 renewal packets. A new plan that is similar to the one that they currently have and additional plan options will also be suggested.

SHOP Plans
Small groups enrolled through SHOP will receive a group administrator letter and an employee letter. At least 60 days prior to a group’s renewal date, a SHOP renewal notice will be sent informing groups of their renewal coverage options for 2016.

51-150 Plan Discontinuation
There is also one 51-150 plan that will be discontinued. Groups that have this plan will receive the group administrator letter and an employee letter as well.
