It’s Almost That Time of Year Again ... HEDIS® 2018

Time passes quickly. Before we know it, the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) 2018 season will be here. HEDIS is administered by the National Committee for Quality Assurance and was created to measure performance on important dimensions of care and service.

HEDIS audits utilize claims data and medical records, which determine health plan and provider quality scores, rankings and accreditation status.

This standardized set of performance measures was developed so health plans could:

  • Evaluate quality of care and services
  • Evaluate provider performance
  • Develop performance improvement initiatives
  • Perform outreach to providers and members
  • Compare their performance with other health plans

As a contracted Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas health care provider, your involvement is very important. Please ensure that documentation is complete and accurate as it is essential to successful HEDIS outcomes.

If your medical office participates in Electronic Medical Records handled by a third-party vendor, it is extremely important to let us know before October 15 so we can effectively obtain medical records for HEDIS. You may email us at TexasMedicaidNetworkDepartment@bcbstx.com to let us know who your third-party vendor is.

Achieving a successful HEDIS season and rates requires a year-round effort; therefore, it is never too early to start preparing. Learn more about HEDIS.
