Free Two-day Training Opportunity in Austin, TX: The Road to Recovery from Trauma

The Office of Disability Prevention for Children (ODPC) has partnered with the Office of Mental Health Coordination and SAFE (a merger of Austin Children’s Shelter and SafePlace in Austin/Travis County), to provide a free two-day training.

The Road to Recovery: Supporting Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Who Have Experienced Trauma is a two-day train-the-trainer model designed to teach basic knowledge, skills and values related to working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have had traumatic experiences. Attendees will learn how to use this knowledge to support children’s safety, well-being and recovery through trauma-informed practices.

This training is designed for educators and service providers in the fields of mental health, child welfare and protection, disability services, education and others involved in the care of children with disabilities.
