Stay in Compliance with Private Duty Nursing (PDN) Requirements

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ STAR Kids program has recently updated its requirements for PDN documentation so it remains in compliance with the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual updates that went into effect Jan. 1, 2018.

The updated certification requirements include:

• The entire recertification packet must be submitted at least seven calendar days before and no more than 30 calendar days prior to current authorization expiration.
• Initial certification and recertification now require two weeks’ documentation of the following:
  
• Nurse notes
• Medication administration records
• Seizure logs
• Ventilator logs
