Free Value Added Services Cover Preventive Care

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) has many Value Added Services (VAS) that are made available to our Medicaid STAR, STAR Kids and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) members. VAS are services that are not covered benefits by Medicaid or CHIP, but are provided to our members by BCBSTX. VAS are used to promote preventive care and services, address gaps in care, support our quality improvement programs and engage members in their own care.

There may be certain restrictions and limitations to our VAS. Some of the VAS available for our STAR/CHIP and STAR Kids members include:

STAR/CHIP:

  • Infant and booster safety car seats
  • Sports and camp physicals
