Now Available: Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage Disclosure Requirement Reminder Notice

Each year, companies who sponsor health plans that include prescription drug coverage are required to notify both the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Medicare Part D-eligible health plan participants whether the prescription coverage offered is creditable or non-creditable to Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.

[Note: This notice obligation is the employer/plan sponsor's obligation – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) does not mail these creditable coverage notices to health plan participants on behalf of the employer/plan sponsor.]

In order to be environmentally responsible, BCBSIL does not mail employers this summary of their Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage notice obligations. Instead, we are providing you with this electronic version of the reminder letter.

The creditable coverage reminder letter will provide an overview of the employer's notification requirements and include information that may assist the employer in determining whether or not their prescription drug coverage is creditable or non-creditable to Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
