Blue Access for EmployersSM Tip: Online Payment FAQs

Do you have questions about the Online Payments feature in Blue Access for Employers (BAE)? If so, we’re here to help!

How soon will my payment be processed? How will I know when it has been processed?
Payments are processed each business day, beginning at 2 p.m. Central time. Payments submitted after 2 p.m. are processed the next business day. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) credits your account within one-to-two business days.

If you use automatic payment, your payment is processed two business days prior to the payment’s due date.

To check the progress of your payment, use the Online Payments Track Payments option in BAE. A payment confirmation is sent only to groups using automatic payment. If there is any problem processing your payment, BCBSIL notifies you via email.

Will I be notified when my payment is due?
BCBSIL does not send a notice when a payment is due. However, you receive a notice when your premium bill or invoice is available to review. If an online payment has not been received by the due date, BCBSIL sends a reminder.

To ensure timely payment, you have several options. You can:

  1. Schedule a single payment to be made at a future date, or
  2. Set up automatic payment for all future payments

Can I update or reverse a payment?
If your payment has not been processed, you can update the amount and/or the payment date by using the Online Payments Update Payments option.

Note: Payments are processed each business day beginning at 2 p.m. Central time. If you submit a payment after 2 p.m., it is processed the next business day.

How do I update online payment if we change bank accounts or banks?
To update banking information, use this option: Online Payments Modify Bank Account Profile Update Bank Account Information. Please note that whenever you change banking information, there is a 10-day waiting period before online payments can resume.
