Updated ACA Timeline Now Available
An updated Affordable Care Act timeline is now available to explain upcoming changes in health care reform. The timeline includes new information on the employers’ exchange notice requirement, guaranteed availability and renewability, and actuarial value. We’ve also added new topics – cost-sharing limits for essential health benefits and community rating. Since some 2012 provisions are still pertinent, we have kept them in the timeline.

ACA Question of the Week: Preventive Care Services Without Cost-sharing
The “Question of the Week” answers frequently asked questions regarding the Affordable Care Act. If you have a question about ACA provisions, contact your account representative.
Q. Does it matter whether or not the preventive care service is delivered by a health care provider in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois network?
A.
Yes. Members must receive preventive care services from health care providers in their employer’s benefit plan network in order for the service to be covered without cost-sharing (with no co-pay, co-insurance or deductible). If employees or family members use a doctor that is not in their health benefit plan’s network, they may be required to pay for all or part of the cost of the service.
