BlueSalud to reimburse providers for entering vaccine data into NMSIIS effective January 1, 2010
The New Mexico Statewide Immunization Information System (NMSIIS, pronounced “nemesis”) is an Internet database that records and tracks immunization dates for children and adults in New Mexico. NMSIIS gives practitioners, school nurses, parents, and others a tool to further improve immunization rates; helps keep New Mexicans on track for recommended immunizations; and makes vaccine records more available to all. The goal of NMSIIS is to ensure that all New Mexicans are properly immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Immunization registries are integral to ensuring that children and adults receive immunizations according to recommended schedules. NMSIIS will prevent over-immunizing, which may occur when health care providers are unaware of immunizations administered by other providers. NMSIIS is provided by the State of New Mexico at no cost. Providers need only a computer with Internet access to use the database.

We urge you to use NMSIIS and join us in our efforts to eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases in New Mexico. To encourage Medicaid providers to enter immunization data into NMSIIS, we will reimburse contracted BlueSalud providers $5.00 per billing. Please bill CPT code 99080 along with the immunization administrative code and vaccine code. The vaccine code(s) should always be billed with the administration code(s). The following table outlines the combination of billing codes necessary for reimbursement. We will pay only one unit of 99080 per date of service.
