Why switch to Electronic Refund Management (eRM)?
As a participating BCBSNM provider, you have the option to use our eRM system for electronic notification/resolution of overpayment requests. To do so, you must be registered with Availity® or RealMed®, since gaining access to eRM requires connectivity through a secure vendor portal.

Our eRM tool is designed to help simplify the overpayment reconciliation process. eRM is:

  • Paperless: You can choose to receive a daily or weekly e-mail summarizing overpayment requests from BCBSNM, instead of receiving the paper request for claim refund (RFCR) letter.
  • Flexible: When you receive an electronic notification of overpayment, you can choose to deduct from a future payment, or choose the option to pay by check (the eRM system will generate a remittance form to print and send with your payment).
  • Easy to use: A three-step process on every page gives you the opportunity to review your selection or data before you submit the information to BCBSNM.
  • Efficient: There’s no need to call BCBSNM with questions—you can make inquiries via the eRM system and you’ll receive a response electronically.
  • Versatile: If you need to appeal or dispute a request, you can upload your documentation into the eRM system. If you need to fax your information, the system will generate a cover sheet with a bar code to ensure your documentation is matched with the appropriate refund.

Ongoing support
The eRM Support Team offers free, weekly, online training and demo sessions to help new users get started, and to provide existing users with a refresher course.
